Death Hollow

Right before we got married, Wade and I went on a backpacking trip. We loved it. After we got married we went to good old Ace Hardware and bought me my very own backpack because we had planned to go on many more backpacking trips together. Alas, I always seemed to be pregnant or breastfeeding and so Wade took over "my" backpack and went without me. Not this year. We knew we needed to capitalize on our freedom from the baby...so we bought me another new backpack and headed South!

Here's the crew at the trail-head.

We hiked about 4 miles the first day and set up camp. My brother Ike was the only one who sacrificed weight for comfort and brought a chair. Next time, I will do the same.

The next morning. After about 3 miles we came to Death Hollow.

Here it is. For any of you who haven't seen this place, it's pretty incredible.

The best part was that we got to drop our packs and day hike.

We hiked in about 3 miles, hiked those same 3 miles back out, and hiked another 2 miles before setting up camp again. I was hosed.

Here we are on the last day of our trip. We hiked about 5 more miles. My legs were seriously bushwhacked. Can you tell I'm ready for the car and real food?
