Sunny California

Wade's best friend Pat called a while back to tell us he was getting married in the LA temple in May. We wouldn't have missed his wedding for anything, and decided to make a vacation out of it. Wade was excited for any excuse to go to California - which is where he served his mission. The first night (Thursday) we stayed in a little place right on the beach in Carlsbad. It was beautiful. I loved it.
Us on the beach in Carlsbad.

Friday morning we decided to go to the San Diego Temple. Unfortunately for us, they are restoring the outside of the temple and it was covered in scaffolding - it was still beautiful.

From there we headed to Laguna Beach. It was beautiful, but crazy congested! Seriously though, who doesn't want to live in 65 - 70 degree (year round) weather? I think Wade would live in California (if we could afford it)...I think I would miss the mountains too much.

Meet Aurelio. A man Wade taught on his mission. We spent the evening with Aurelio and his family. They are the best, and speaking of the best, we had (not kidding) the BEST pizza I have ever had. I am ready to drive back to Cali just for the pizza.

That night we stayed with this sweet lady. Bobbie Alger. She was Wade's mom away from home while he was on his mission.

The next morning we drove to LA.

Here are the boys right after the ceremony.

They had a luncheon afterward at a little Mexican restaurant right on the Santa Monica Pier

Our last night we had dinner with the Rippy family. Wade was in Rancho Santa Fe for a good chunk of his mission and got to know this family very well. We had such a good time with them. They are great!

I guess like most vacations, the time went WAY too fast. I loved spending one on one time with my nice husband. I must admit though, I was missing my little girlies a lot. This was the first time we had ever been more than 24 hours away from our kids. I was so excited to see them. Ellia didn't want anything to do with me when she saw me Sunday. She wouldn't let me hold her and just wanted my mom (and even Wade over me). It broke my heart. Luckily, she forgave me for leaving and was once again attached at my hip a short while later.

Patrick and Jet, thanks for getting married in LA.

Back to the grind.
