Races

The First Race: Tour de St. George Century
Who would have thought that on April 9 St. George would have cold, snowy weather? Not Wade and his brother Greg! They booked this race a couple of months in advance. Their first 100 miler. They trained hard and were pretty bummed when they found out the weather was going to be crappy...but they had already paid their dues (which were non-refundable of course), and they decided to do it anyway. The wives met up with them at one of the rest areas. It was a little before noon. The temp. was about 34 degrees. And if cold, wet rain and snow wasn't enough, Greg got 2 flat tires. Our boys were so cold they were shaking...but they kept going - that is until they were forced to stop around mile 65 because of snow packed roads in Veyo. They got in about 75 miles total...and luckily the weather did start to improve...
And was quite beautiful when they crossed the finish line.

It was only slightly chilly the next day and after church we took the kids to see the temple.
We love our cousins!

Second Race: Seeing how long we could last playing "Whip It!"
We invited my brother and his family down for Easter weekend. My sister ended up coming too. We had a great time.
*We never did make it all the way through that stupid song! The drums...they are brutal!

Third Race: Picking up as much Easter Candy as possible!
Saturday morning we battled cold, wet rainy weather again and joined in on the community Easter egg hunt. My kids love it!

We don't really do the whole Easter Bunny thing, but the girls do get to go on a treasure hunt to find their baskets...and it's a big hit!

I didn't even get a picture of my beautiful girls Easter morning. I am a slacker mother. Can I blame it on the fact that church is at 9 and I have 4 heads of hair to do? I guess I better force Janie to learn to do her own hair...because if I don't I will have 5 when this new one comes along...at least babies don't have a lot of hair!
P.S. can I just complain a little and say that I absolutely HATE having sacrament meeting last? I really thought that the girls would sit and listen to the Easter messages (both word and song), and I really try to emphasize to the girls that Easter is about Jesus - alas...they are restless after 2 hours of sitting. That third hour is just so, so hard. I found myself exhausted by the end, but it was beautiful nonetheless, and the choir sang one of my favorite songs: This Is The Christ by President Faust. I love it. It was worth the chaos to just for that brief moment sit and listen and ponder through that song the beauty of the atonement and resurrection, and all that is possible because of the Savior.

Looks like you have the same crazy Sunday mornings we do :( minus one hair due. We are blessing our wade May 8th (mothers day) @ 9. We would love to have you come, but understand with it being mother's day and all. We are doing the luncheon Saturday the 7th at a park at noon and you're invited to that too. Let us know what your plans are either way :)
